The Seymour meeting will launch the four-race regional Victorian series and alongside members of the general public, will welcome invited volunteers, emergency services members and industry participants for an afternoon of country racing and community connection.
A dedicated marquee will be hosted on course for guests who served on the front line, providing an opportunity to enjoy a day at the races as a small gesture of thanks, with hospitality and on-course activities available throughout the afternoon.
Seymour Racing Club chief executive officer Chris Martin said the meeting reflected the club’s strong connection to the local community.
“Communities like Seymour rely heavily on volunteers and emergency services, and during the bushfires we saw first hand the incredible work they do under the toughest conditions,” Mr Martin said.
“We’re proud to host the first Racing For Our Regions meeting and welcome those who helped protect communities across the region for a well-earned day at the races.”
Mr Martin said the club was looking forward to hosting the meeting and welcoming racegoers back to Seymour.
“Race days at Seymour are always about bringing people together,” he said.
“This meeting is an opportunity to acknowledge the contribution of those who stepped up when it mattered most, while enjoying everything that makes country racing special.”
Further details regarding invitations and attendance for volunteers and emergency services personnel will be coordinated directly through Seymour Racing Club in the lead-up to the meeting.
