It was a bit damp in the mid-morning on Wednesday so none of the women or the nine-holers took to the course.
However, the weather was drier and calmer by the time the men’s competition started so they had their stableford round.
John Mundy (19) was the winner with 37 points on a countback from Mark Fountain.
The nearest-to-the-pins went to Greg Pell on the fourth, Mark Fountain on the sixth, Ian Richardson on the 12th and Vic Bottaro on the 17th. To be in the ball pool you needed 32 points on a countback.
On Thursday the women were able to host their tournament for the Gwen Stammers Trophy which is generously sponsored by the Stammers family.
After a long time with no district tournaments, it was great to see a good field of 37 women from in and around the district.
The field included Gwen’s Daughter, Di Stammers, who travelled from Ballarat to represent the family and help present the trophies.
The winner of the Gwen Stammers Trophy was Gail Leigh from Marysville who had the best scratch score of the day with 89.

The course was enjoyed by all the visiting players who commented on its great condition.
This is a credit to the hard-working volunteers who maintain the course and our thanks goes to them.
Saturday the men had their second round of the championships while the women were just starting with their first round.
After another bout of solid rain, the course conditions were heavier than usual which kept the scores more moderate.
The best score of the day was actually quite popular and therefore resulted in countbacks for two of the grades.
A-grade was won by Peter Nelson with 77-7=70 on a countback from Mark Fountain.
B-grade went to Dave Enricho with 82-12=70 on a countback from Gerard Hard.

Nagambie
Wild weather once again smashed the Nagambie Golf Course making patience and resilience two virtues needed for a good score.
The rain from early in the week was of benefit and showed how well the Nagambie track does drain.
The final par event for the season brought 34 players to the course with the 'Golden Nugget' proving not everything has to be pretty to succeed; with Aaron Winnell who has been knocking on the door in recent weeks getting it done with +4. Well done.
Runner-up was Jeremy Ezard with +3 getting his game back on track, with some big events just around the corner. Local junior Rhys Shepherd again finished in the top three and it’s only a matter of time for him to break through for a victory.
The nearest-the-pins required some creative play, having to work the ball through tricky wind conditions. Jeremy Ezard claimed the third and 13th, then 'the bullet' Wayne LeCerf stepped up to the 16th and rifled one home.
Next week's golf is a stroke Gold Medal play-off with the first silver medal also being contested to kick off a new season. On office duty is S. Bryant and in the bar G.Whiteman.
