The best score was in B-grade with Di Byrne (18) winning with 35 points. The A-grade winner was Paula Britton (16) with 32 points. The extra competition was the best odd holes and Di Byrne also won that with 17 points. The balls went to Di Byrne, Pat Ferris and Paula Britton.
In the men’s results, the top score for the day went to Damien Humphrey (seven) who had 38 points to win A-grade. The B-grade winner was Vic Bottaro (25) with 37 points. The nearest to the pins were won by Damien Humphrey on the sixth, John Callaghan on the 12th, Greg Pell on the 17th, and the fourth stayed with the club. The ball pool went to those with 34 points or better.
The mixed nine holes was won by Phil Block (26) who had 16 points on a countback from Stubby Byrnes. Dilva Grattan was the next best with 13 points to make up the ball pool.
Following Christmas there was one more Wednesday competition before the new year started. The winner for the women was Shirley Wright (19) with 34 points. The extra competition was the best even holes and this was won by Liz Gee with 18 points. The ball pool went to Shirley Wright, Di Byrne and Sue McCall with 29 points.
The best score of the day was in the men’s competition with Bill Keating (24) winning B-grade with a nice 38 points. The A-grade winner was Mick Prorok (seven) with 37 points. Nearest to the pins went to Terry Salmon on the sixth, Gary Neville on the 12th, and Matt O’Sullivan on the 17th while the fourth stayed with the club. A score of 34 points on a countback was needed to be in the ball pool.
Dilva Grattan (37) won the mixed nine holes with 15 points and the runner-up was Melva Gardner with 13 points.
It was a very hot day to start the new year last Saturday, which meant only a small but determined field took to the course to start the 2022 golf year. Gary Neville (22) clearly liked the hot weather when he scored a terrific 40 points to win the day. The nearest to the pin on the fourth was Roger Edwards, the sixth stayed with the club, Dave Pearce claimed the 12th and Greg Pell was closest on the 17th. The drive and pitch on the eighth went to Gary Neville and on the 15th it was Peter Sawyer. The ball pool went to Gary Nevllle, Paul Niebling and Greg Pell with 31 points.
This week the Friday social nine holes is stroke over holes 7 to 15. Saturday is the start of the Beale Family Summer Cup for the men and the women. This event is stroke and runs over four consecutive weeks, with the totals of the best three net scores in the men’s and women’s fields determining the two winners.
