Tallarook got off to a rapid start with Mitch Itter making a quickfire 27 off 16 balls before Josh Rudge and Lachlan Watts settled in for the rest of the innings.
In a partnership of 103 runs, Rudge finished on 61 not out with eight fours and a six, while Watts ended on 45 not out with six fours, leaving Tallarook with a total of 1-147 off its 20 overs.
Avenel got off to a solid start with Travis Stefanos (21) and Sam Marshall (29) leading the way with the bat. It was Matt Archibald who broke the game open with a crucial spell of 3-24, supported by a tidy and economical four overs from Kal Winnell.
Tallarook was too strong, running out winners by 58 runs.
Puckapunyal 4-97 (C Deegan 26, J Voogt 24) def by Pyalong 5-103 (M Wilkins 38, J Pryor 23, B Kingston 2-10)
Pyalong batted first at Puckapunyal with Matthew Wilkins opening the batting and top scoring for Pyalong with 38 runs, including four boundaries. Jamie Pryor provided a supporting role, making 23 runs off 18 balls. For Puckapunyal it was Benjamin Kingston who was the pick of the bowlers with 2-10.
In Puckapunyal’s run chase, Cody Deegan provided a steady presence in an innings of 26 with Charles Davies (19) and James Voogt (24) both making handy contributions.
The run rate was just too slow for Puckapunyal, though, finishing six runs short of Pyalong’s total.
