Having gone down to reigning premier Euroa by 21 goals last weekend to mark the first blemish on their record in 2025, the Lions made amends with a hard-fought 62-53 triumph over Shepparton United at Kings Park on Saturday.
It was a hot start to the contest, with both sides enjoying periods of ascendancy in the first term, although they couldn’t be separated at the first break, with the scores locked at 12-12.
Both the Lions and Demons enjoyed runs in the second term, although it was the home side that sneaked ahead by the barest of margins at half-time, leading 25-24.

Come the third term, however, Seymour showed its class, opening the quarter with an 8-3 run and going on to win the term 19-14 to add a little bit of breathing room at the final change with a 44-38 lead.
It was a clinical showing in the fourth quarter from the Lions, who weathered a Demons rally to open the gap up even further, closing out the contest with the final five goals of the game to record the eventual nine-goal win, celebrating 100 club games for Bridie Cantwell and Ruby Martin in style.
Rosie O’Sullivan was superb at wing attack in the win.
Martin was exceptional in combination with Ally Black inside the circle, with the pair firing home 32 and 23 goals respectively as two of Seymour’s best, while Rosie O’Sullivan turned in another great performance at wing attack to also be included in the best.

The win ensures the Lions remain fourth on the ladder with a 4-1 record after five games, two games and percentage clear of Mooroopna in fifth, while setting up a tantalising clash against third-placed Tatura (4-1) this weekend at home.
