Seymour talent Sam Durham was the hero for Essendon at the weekend as he helped end the Bombers’ 13-game losing streak to Richmond.

In front of a packed MCG for the annual Dreamtime at the ’G match, the former Lion was the man of the moment in the dying stages of the contest.
With his side down by five points in the final minute of the match, Durham marked in the goal square and calmly slotted the goal with less than 10 seconds left to deliver his Bombers a 10.11 (71) to 10.10 (70) triumph.
Durham, who got his dream AFL gig while starring for Richmond’s VFL outfit, booted two final quarter goals and chalked up 21 disposals in a class outing for the Bombers.
Speaking to Essendon media after the match, Durham re-lived what was going through his head in those final moments.

“All I was thinking about was my debut against North when I shanked that one in the goal square, but thankfully that one went through, so I’m happy,” he said.
“One of my mates, it was his 22nd birthday, so they were all here and it was awesome to share it with them.”
The forward-flanker, who has played 36 games at the highest level, is enjoying another consistent year for the Bombers.
The 21-year-old has played nine matches this campaign and is averaging 16.7 disposals, 5.2 marks and two tackles per game.
Essendon hits the road to take on a struggling West Coast Eagles outfit this Saturday.
