Things started well for Rochester on its visit to the Echuca Lawn Tennis Club with Jaycob Dingwall and Lachlan Smith taking the two singles rubbers, both 6-3.
The men’s doubles also favoured Rochy, two matches to one, with Nash Hocking and Jacob Grieves pairing up for an 8-1 victory for Rochy.
The women’s doubles were split two-two but Rochester was scoring bigger wins, including an 8-2 victory to the pairing of Kate Lee and Karen Taylor.
Three of the four mixed doubles also flowed Rochy’s way as it comfortably took the match.
Lockington-Bamawm United was unable to end Echuca 1’s 15-match undefeated season, falling 9-82 to 4-72 at the Lockington-Bamawm United Tennis Club.
Things started poorly for LBU as Echuca took the first six rubbers by a combined 44 games to 22.
Lois Toohey and Melissa Haines ended the run as they secured an 8-3 victory for LBU in the women’s doubles before Haines partnered with Narelle Bacon for an 8-0 thrashing to give the host side some hope.
However, Echuca was too strong in the end, taking three out of four mixed doubles matches to run out the winner.
Division two
LBU thrashed Echuca 5, winning the first 10 rubbers on its way to an 11-78 to 2-43 victory.
A brief fightback saw matches 11 and 12 fall Echuca’s way but the damage was done with Ashley Portwine and Chelsea Newton closing out the tie with a 6-2 victory for LBU.
Rochester defeated Elmore by forfeit.
