Rochy building with Saints win

Benalla actually started the better, slotting an early major, but Rochy quickly seized control, kicking five unanswered and leading 37-15 at the first interval.

Four of the first five after the break put the Tigers up by 40 points, but the Saints found two goals going into half-time to foster some hope.

Still up 30 at the main break, Rochy put it beyond doubt with a clinical third quarter, kicking seven goals to none to be ahead by more than 70 at the final change.

The run continued into the fourth, with three more sailing through before Benalla finally got back on the board, but the day was Rochester’s, the Tigers surging once again to win by 110.

Hugh Hamilton has proved to be a much-needed injection of scoring for the side since his return from injury and he led the way again at the weekend with a team best four goals.

Mitchell Trewhella, Kyle Waters and Hunter Wileman also got in on the action with three each.

Rochester improves to 3-5 with the win and, although the start to the season hasn’t been great, the Tigers are only a game back from the top six, with more than half the campaign still remaining.

Rochy heads to Seymour (5-3) in the next round, hoping to put together a run towards the finals.
