The fine weather on the weekend provided excellent conditions for the round of Campaspe Area Pennant.
Our club fought gallantly to secure the premiership points, however a couple of divisions just failed to register victories.
Division five flew the flag after defeating a determined Rochester squad 38-34 in a high-standard contest.
Division three journeyed to Stanhope to do battle and were a little unfortunate to lose after winning two of the three rinks and failing by three shots 52-55, (Steve Pavone d. P Harris 19-13; Leanne McInnes l.t. B Williams 14-24; John Fisher d. K Hoppner 19-18).
Division four trekked to Deniliquin RSL, and lost the match 61-65 in another close contest with no rink wins, (Denise Gilmore l.t. R Reid 20-26; Shane Felmingham l.t. N Hilton 17-26; Cindy Felmingham l.t. R Marchetti 18-19).
Division five celebrated their first victory for the season, recording a four-shot win against Rochester after surviving a late surge from the home team.
In a game of fluctuating fortunes, our teams held a 30-14 shot lead at the halfway point, before the opposition made a gallant late charge to trail by two shots on the main board with just one end left.
The Leon Laffy rink was able to pick up two shots to help the club to victory.
Final scores Lockington 38 to Rochester 34, (Kalvin Stout d M McArdle 19-13; Leon Laffy l.t. J Limbrick 19-21).

The winning pair was Mel Freeman - Ian Haines with a win and a loss, +3 shots ahead of Kim Ray - Jeff Carnie, win/loss, +1 shot.
Members enjoyed the Sixty and Over competition at Stanhope on Wednesday, with the Leon Laffy rink winning the prized Chooks. Well done.
During the week, a team comprising Steve Pavone, Shane Felmingham and Francis Keech (Rochester) played the Eaglehawk Bowling Club Triples event.
Producing some near perfect bowls from all bowlers, they just failed to qualify for the play-offs due to a lack of shots up.
Members are reminded to add their names to the club championship games to be started shortly.
The Social Club delivered a serving of KFC on Friday evening after the practice session. Thanks to the organisers.
The lucky tatts supplementary competition is again in operation.
Latest results to be published in the next issue.
