After hinting he was on the verge of another big score the previous week, Newman blasted 15 fours and three sixes in his knock of 105 off just 68 deliveries as Kyabram piled up an imposing 7/305 against the visitors, who were restricted in reply to 8/129 off their 45 overs.
After Kyabram won the toss and elected to bat in the stifling hot and blustery conditions Newman and Billy McLay laid the foundation for a healthy total with an opening stand of 91.
McLay was out for 29 off 31 deliveries before Newman and Kyle Mueller boosted the score to 4/170 with a 70-run stand for the third wicket.
Kyle Mueller made 45 off 61 balls with six boundaries and one six before the total was given a late boost by Cade Mueller and Kyle Fitzgerald.
Coming off an unbeaten 44 in a losing side the previous week Cade Mueller continued that form to make 57 off 53 balls, which included eight fours and a six, while Fitzgerald contributed 41 off 44 balls in a partnership with Cade Mueller that yielded 71 runs for the fifth wicket.
In Euroa’s innings star recruit and off-spinner Darin Ohlsen claimed 3/13 off nine overs including six maidens. He received most support from Cade Mueller, who completed a good match with 2/21 off nine overs.
There is now a break in the season until January 8 but Kyabram has the bye in that round and doesn’t resume again until January 15 when it takes on Numurkah at Numurkah.
Kyabram’s B grade side had Euroa reeling at 8/38 but let it off the hook to finish with 90.
Nick Chambers was again among the wickets for Kyabram with 5/13 off nine overs including three maidens while Lukas Hanslow and Beau Metcalf both claimed two wickets.
Kyabram’s batsmen, courtesy of openers Tim Nelson and Jason Parsons with a 46-run stand and 21 from Connor Hawes, achieved the win for the loss of five wickets in 21.4 overs
Kyabram’s C grade side didn’t play due to the excessive heat rule.
