Incoming president Murray Akers will be supported by experienced people in Cathy O’Brian as vice-president, Andrea Muskee as secretary, while Fiona Wieland has been appointed as Treasurer.
New faces on the committee include Dan Lovell, Ed Thomas, Isobel Gribben and Lorenzo Rigoli.
Each competition committee also has a representative on the executive.
The executive committee’s role is to promote and develop tennis programs in the region and assist clubs and the competition subcommittees with the development of their clubs and competitions.
The junior, senior and night committees all have announced competitions starting on October 9 and 10 and are looking for interest from individual players or teams in terms of taking part.
Speaking after the make-up of the executive committee was revealed, a representative for the GMTA explained in more detail what the function of the body is in relation to its role in the wider community.
“The executive committee’s role is to promote and develop tennis programs in the region and assist clubs and the competition subcommittees with the development of their clubs and competitions,” they wrote.
“Individuals not currently with a club can contact any of the committee for information on where to get involved.
“Whilst the midweek competition is in full swing, any interested ladies can still contact that committee, as they are always on the lookout for fill ins and new players for future competitions.”
In the past year, tennis in the Goulburn Murray region has taken on a different look and make-up.
Although merged in practice last season, four local tennis leagues officially amalgamated to establish the Goulburn Murray Tennis Association.
The Goulburn Murray Lawn, Shepparton and District, Shepparton Junior, and Midweek Pennant Associations combined earlier this year to create the new body.
