A battling Mt Pleasant was unable to stave off Huntly in the B-reserve grand final, the Hawks successfully defending their Heathcote District Football Netball League flag.

The Mounts got the early jump at Strauch Reserve and led by as many as six in the opening minutes, but Huntly slowly warmed itself into the game, drawing within one before a shot on the siren put Mt Pleasant back ahead 13-11.
Huntly earned its first lead at 16-15, but nothing could separate the teams for the remainder of the period.

Both teams missed opportunities in possession late, but the siren sounded before either side could capitalise on the other’s missteps and the squads prepared to start from scratch in the second half, 23-all.
The Mounts looked as if they would break away as they re-established a four-goal lead, 28-24, but the Hawks bettered the run and put on eight straight to steal the advantage 32-28.
Four remained the margin at three-quarter time, as Huntly led 36-32.

There were moments of heroism and of missed opportunity in the final period, but ultimately those four goals stayed between the sides at full time as the Hawks completed their undefeated season 48-44.
Mt Pleasant co-coach Jess Dooley praised the spirit and effort of her team in her post-match address, saying her side should be proud of a great season.
Despite her side going down, mid-courter Maddy Gargliulo stood above the rest and was awarded best-on-court.
