Bowlers from 16 different bowling clubs throughout Victoria made up the 20 triples teams.
The winner was the Whittlesea team of Steve Bates and Kay and Graham Winther, with four games won and a total of 68 points.
Runners-up were Noel Slater, Kate Donovan and Pam Pedder from Avenel, who scored a very competitive four games and a draw, with a total of 63 points.
A club spokesperson said the presentation was made by Gerard O’Sullivan of G & S O’Sullivan Builders.
“The generous sponsorship of G & S O’Sullivan Builders, the Seymour Club, McDonald’s Seymour, Beer Auto Group, Janelle Puppa Real Estate and Mawsons Sand and Gravel enabled the club to provide a very healthy first place and runners-up rewards at the end of a long day of bowls,” the spokesperson said.
Easter Saturday dawned with a similar promise of great weather for bowling. Ten teams competed in the rotation fours event.
“Although getting a little too hot by the end of the day, the four games of 10 ends was completed with the winners claiming back-to-back honours,” the spokesperson said.
Luke Spargo, Rob Paige, Henry Boswood and 13-year-old Charlie Boswood completed the day with four games won.
Runner-up was the Seymour team of Marg Locke, John Fitzgerald, Denis Klein and Adam Ellerton, with three games and a draw.
“Once again, our thanks go to our generous sponsors of the day, the Seymour Club and Howard Squires Funerals,” the spokesperson said.
“Although many helped with the organisation of the two-day event, special mention and thanks must be made to Rob Brown and the greens staff for both rinks being presented in excellent condition.
“Likewise, our catering team led by Sonia Jones did an amazing job providing great meals over both days. It was a great club effort.”
