The Magpies suffered their only two defeats of the Goulburn Valley League campaign during the past month, but Ellie Warnock’s charges made sure to rectify it all when fellow heavyweight Mooroopna headed south on Saturday.
Euroa shook off the Cats’ early blows to eventually snare a 58-46 victory, putting the July demons to bed while consigning Mooroopna to its second defeat on the spin.
Right from the jump, it was crystal clear no side was giving the other an inch.
Mooroopna drew first blood but Euroa’s lodestar, Olivia Morris, got her hands busy and found her range early to fire the hosts out to a 12-10 quarter-time advantage.

Morris, working in tandem with Samantha Kreltzheim, jostled with Mooroopna defenders Dayna Williams and Chloe Meulenmeesters for custody of the shooting circle.
Through the centre, an electric duel between Hollie Reid and Asha Gray took place.
But as the side in black and white began to accelerate, so did the scoreline.
Mooroopna’s Ash Lancaster did her utmost to keep the Cats on track, but Euroa’s goaling duo received silver service and obliged with the opportunities to build the Magpies’ buffer out to nine at the half.
Then the Cats reined that back to six by three-quarter time, but constant volleys of Euroa goals throughout the final term snuffed out Mooroopna’s flame as the margin blew out to 12 at the whistle.
Kreltszheim impressed alongside Kellie Davidson for Euroa, while for the Cats, Rhani Hendy played a mature game with Gray also performing well.
Elsewhere, Shepparton Swans exacted a crucial four points against Rochester to remain in the hunt for a coveted finals place.
The Swans trekked to Rochester to face a down-and-out Tigers and Jana Riordan’s side made sure to oblige by order of a 52-44 triumph on the road.
Riordan’s Swans sit outside the finals bracket in seventh, but are level on points with Shepparton United (sixth) and Echuca (eighth), meaning the final two games against Euroa and Kyabram are paramount in the context of the post-season.
Lastly, Shepparton made it 16 straight wins this season, beating Echuca 64-44 at Echuca South Recreation Reserve.
