Ron Szydlowski has been announced as the winner of The Telegraph’s 2024 footy tipping competition.
Szydlowski topped the leaderboard with 136 correct tips, finishing four ahead of runner-up Anne Brown, in what he described as one of the toughest seasons to tip.
“This year was so difficult as the games were tight and unpredictable,” he said.
Sitting near the top of the table all season, a strong final month, including eight tips in the last round, gave the diehard Carlton fan enough to claim the crown.
A second-year entrant, the win surprised Szydlowski, who said he never won anything.
Along with bragging rights, Szydlowski takes home a $550 Stihl Shop voucher, which he says will be put to good use.
“I was cutting my grass yesterday and my lawnmower carked it, so this prize will allow me to buy a new one,” he said.
