The most notable scores were recorded in Goulburn Valley League, where Echuca won both of its highly-anticipated clashes against Shepparton, prevailing 11.14 (80) to 10.10 (70) in senior football and 66-50 in A-grade netball.
There was a plethora of impressive results in the Murray league, starting with Moama, which defeated Finley 11.5 (71) to 10.10 (70) in a thrilling football clash, the netball side prevailing in a more comfortable fashion, winning 51-31.
Elsewhere, Echuca United was able to post wins across both codes for the first time this season, triumphing 9.10 (64) to 6.14 (50) in senior football and 45-37 in A-grade netball against Cobram.
Tongala was the only local Murray league side unable to win both its matches, as the Blues’ netball outfit defeated Rumbalara 54-51 in a close battle, its football team lost 13.13 (91) to 14.9 (93).
In the Heathcote District Football Netball League, Leitchville-Gunbower posted a huge victory in senior football, defeating North Bendigo 11.9 (75) to 10.8 (68), though the Bombers’ netballers were unable to follow suit, losing 56-39.
Lockington-Bamawm United had a tough day at the office, being thrashed in both matches against Colbinabbin, 16.15 (111) to 6.7 (43) in senior football and 87-46 in A-grade netball.
Finally, to the Picola District Football Netball League, where Picola United split its matches against Berrigan, posting a strong 60-29 win in A-grade netball, but being thrashed 2.3 (15) to 18.14 (122) in senior football.
Mathoura was unable to get off the canvas across either code against Tocumwal, the Timbercutters’ footballers going down 3.7 (25) to 19.20 (134), while their netballers lost 63-19.
