Shepparton East has been crowned the Kyabram District League under-17 netball premier, defeating Tallygaroopna 41-25 after a scintillating second half surge to add the ultimate prize to their minor premiership from the home and away season.

It was the Eagles that soared to the early lead on Saturday at Mooroopna Recreation Reserve, making the hotter start as both teams encountered some early grand final jitters that saw missed shots and passing errors riddle both ends of the court.
At quarter-time, it would be Shepp East narrowly ahead after securing the only break in the contest, up 9-6 in a tense opening quarter.
Tallygaroopna though had pushed the Eagles all the way in the semi-final, and during the second term, showed they were again up for the fight.
Slowly but surely the Redlegs reeled in the Eagles lead, closing to 14-15 at one point, before East again found a timely break just before half time, scoring on the buzzer to reinstate their three-goal advantage and lead 18-15 at the main interval.

By three-quarter time, though, the Eagles had made their move, and the minor premier had one hand on the main prize.
In a stunning term, East outscored the Redlegs 13-6, going ahead 31-21 by the final change to take a stranglehold on the contest, and any resistance Tallygaroopna planned in the final term was quickly quashed.
Going from strength to strength, the Eagles pushed the margin out to 16 by the final siren, clinching a stunning premiership with a 41-25 grand final victory to cap a superb minor premiership-winning season in which they lost just once.
Co-captain Lily Moffatt was named best on court for her work through the midcourt, helping to drive the Eagles’ attack throughout the contest while also working hard defensively.
