United was clinical in the first half, getting out to a 14-6 lead at quarter-time and extending the advantage to 25-15 at the main break.
Extremely unfavourable conditions made fluid play difficult, but Numurkah attempted to do what it could to chip away at the lead, but could only reduce the margin by one at three-quarter time.

The Blues made a surge in the final term, but the Eagles were up to the task and held on to grab the win, 37-34.

United now sits a game and a half back from the finals contingent with three games to play.
Mathematically, the Eagles remain in with a chance, but with their next game, on August 9, against undefeated defending champion Rumbalara, they will be up against it to close that gap.
The Eagles will visit Rumbalara home at Mercury Drive for the clash after a week off due to the split round 16.
