Echuca United scored a second win of the Murray Netball League season, putting in a clinical performance against Cobram in round four.
The two sides had developed a rivalry of sorts last season given the closeness of their games.
In fact, there was absolutely nothing to separate the teams in 2024 as both of their season meetings ended in draws.
That couldn’t have been further from the case in the first meeting of the new year, as the Eagles proved themselves far superior at Scott Reserve at Cobram, claiming the victory 41-16.
The tone was set early as a stifling United defence allowed Cobram just two goals in the opening period, while the Eagles managed 12.
The second quarter was a little more balanced, but Echuca United was still able to extend its lead, taking a 14-goal advantage into the main break.
The Eagles continued to outclass the Tigers throughout the second half resulting in the dominant 25-goal win.
The healthy margin makes United the best of the 2-2 teams in the competition, with the Eagles currently residing in fifth place.
Table neighbour, Congupna, also 2-2, will be the assignment this weekend, as United hosts The Road at Echuca South Recreation Reserve.
