This is due to having a club management committee that organises, oversees and sets the standard for all facets of the competition and indeed existence.
Clearly this is a concept that has not caught on in one of the world’s older sporting bodies as evidenced by the recent performances of its membership in responding to what appears to be a simple disagreement about how the rules of the game are applied.
Through the forthcoming Annual General Meeting, the snooker club will endeavour to demonstrate how important this function is by electing a new general committee and office bearers to take the club forward.
A huge thanks to all committee members for a very successful 22/23 year and to those who will be putting their names forward for next year.
In this context it would be remiss not to mention long-term president Darren Thompson, who is the mainstay of the organisation and could well find himself becoming a “Life President” at some stage in the future.
The final of the Autumn Triples was contested on Monday, June 26 and the team of Debbie Harbrow, Jake Thompson and Martin Dermietzel reigned supreme over Daryl McKernan, Darren Edwards and Nev Page.
The victors took an early lead, fought off a determined fightback effort, and then cruised away with a well-earned victory so heartiest congratulations go to them.
Daryl, Darren and Nev can take solace in making the final of this event whilst running into a better team on the night.
The Monthly Club challenge event on Monday, July 3 resulted in Deb Harbrow and Michael Barclay fighting out the final.
Congratulations to Michael on taking the win and to Debbie on following up her membership of the winning Autumn Triples contest with this result.
Wednesday night social events have been very well supported resulting in a doubles contest being held on Wednesday, June 26.
Debbie Harbrow and Mia Macheda, who are both in ripping form, took the chocolates over Darren Edwards and Michael Barclay in what was a great evening’s fun for all contestants. Wednesday, July 5’s contest was taken by Dan Young who made very strong finishing breaks in both his semi final win over Ashley Nicholls and the final table over Nev Page.
