Echuca Pirates rebounded from last round’s CBL heart-breaker against Swan Hill by blowing the struggling Kyneton Tigers out of the water in the first home game of the season.
Looking to atone for the disappointment of the one-point defeat, Leo Tenace’s men instigated a 56-point turnaround against the visiting Tigers, courtesy of fruitful offensive yields from Luke Rosendale and Shaun Atkins.
Putting their previous slow start behind them, the Pirates made no such mistake in the opening stanza on their home court, shooting 22 points to Kyneton’s 10.
Despite a low-scoring second term, it precipitated a third-quarter Echuca masterclass as they piled on the pain with a 35-point third quarter.
The Pirates shot 20 in the final quarter to confirm the 55-point drubbing.
Rosendale top-scored with 19 points, while Atkins (14), Tyler Phillips (11) and Dylan Payne (11) all reached double-digit scores in the onslaught.
The Pirates won’t have such an easy assignment this weekend when they travel to Maryborough Sports Centre as underdogs to face the undefeated Maryborough Blazers.
Then on Sunday, Echuca finishes its weekend road-trip with a date against the CBL North-West table toppers, Bendigo Braves.
