Two of Barooga’s women footballers have marked personal milestones.
At just 15 years of age, Philippa ‘Pip’ Bain marked 100 career games of women’s football with her youth girls’ side’s victory over Shepparton Swans on Sunday, June 15.
It was a game Barooga dominated, sending the Swans packing with a score of 7.4 (46) to the Swans’ 2.2 (14).
For Bain, kicking a goal — her first of the season — was just the icing on the cake.
Since joining Barooga from Blighty in 2024, Bain has played primarily as a key defender.
The talented footballer also played two games in the Murray Bushrangers under-15 division one outfit last year.
It was a special day, too, for Barooga women’s full forward Claudia Leighton-Daly, who played her 50th club game when the Hawks met Rumbalara on Sunday.
Like Bain, Leighton-Daly also made things that little more sweet for herself by booting Barooga’s only major that game.
Leighton-Daly played with Barooga in 2018 and 2019 in the fourths, before returning to step into the women’s side last year.
