It probably hasn’t been the Goulburn Valley League netball season Kyabram or Rochester would’ve wanted so far in 2025, and things didn’t get much better for the Bombers, who were downed in a relatively tight contest in round 11.

Travelling to Rochester Recreation Reserve, Kyabram had its first legitimate chance in weeks to get its second win of the season against ninth place Tigers.

It was a good start for the Bombers in the first quarter, putting in a 12-goal effort to open their account, and trailed by a single goal at the first break.

Kyabram continued its strong start into the second period, doubling its opening quarter score and out goaled the Tigers by one, to bring it all level by the half-time siren.

Unfortunately, slim pickings in the third term for the Bombers allowed Rochester to get away, with the host piling on 18 goals to manufacture a 13-goal split with the fourth quarter looming.

Kyabram fought back slightly down the stretch, but eight goals simply weren’t enough to stop the Tigers, who finished their day with 11 more to the tally to cruise to a 16-goal victory.

The final score was 37-53.

Nathasha Dodos was awarded best-on-court for Kyabram in the loss for her work as goal shooter.

The Bombers will be back on the road in round 12 when they travel to Kings Park to face a strong Seymour side, who currently sit in third position.
