Benalla Squash Grand Final

Winners are grinners: Section 2 Winners, Annabelle Cleeland MP Team (L to R): Kyle Margat (#1), Angus Woodward (#2) and Sarah McDonald (#3).

It was a Friday night full of competitive duels and fast paced gameplay at the Benalla Squash Club courts on Thomas St as the grand final for the autumn squash season took place.

The Section One and Section Two finalists were played simultaneously on courts opposite one another, making for feast of high level squash for the viewers perched above the playing areas.

Gold Medal: Section 1 Winners, Benalla Bobcat Team (L to R): Lance Carrol (#3), Josh McNair (#2), Zac McNair (#4) and Wally Pastuszka (#1).

In Section One it was the Benalla Bobcats taking on the Dr Stuart Jones Dentist team.

Garry Manning got the Dentist Team off to a flying start with a win but after hard-fought battles on court in all of the four match ups it was the Bobcats who clawed their way to a win.

In Section Two the standard was just as high as Hollywood Pizza Team had set up a Grand Final clash with the Annabelle Cleeland MP Team.

Second is the best: Section 1 Runners Up, Dr Stuart Jones Dentist Team (L to R): Gary Manning (#4), Paul O’Brien (#2), Andrew Ham (#3) and Stuart Jones (#1).

Young gun Angus Woodward got his team off to a good start and Sarah McDonald followed suit with another win taking home the prize for Annabelle Cleeland MP Team before number one player, Kyle Margat, even got on court.

After a great season the Benalla Squash Club will take a small break over the school holidays before getting back on court with a number of free try sessions open to anyone who is interested.
