The Fremantle star has signed a one-year contract extension which will see him through to an 18th season at AFL level.
Speaking to club media last week, Mundy, 35, said it was a “big relief” to finally put pen to paper after contract talks were initially delayed as the Dockers sought clarity on list sizes.
“My wife and family and I are obviously thrilled to have some clarity around our future now,” Mundy told fremantlefc.com.au
“2020 in general has been a time of more questions than answers, so it’s good to have it signed.”
Mundy said team success was his biggest motivating factor heading into the last phase of his career.
“I’m just here to perform, play my role within the team and do my part to take Fremantle back to success and finals football,” Mundy said.
“To be able to go out on the field and perform the way that I did throughout 2020 gives me a lot of confidence and I really enjoy doing it.”
Executive general manager of football Peter Bell said he was pleased to have Mundy as part of the club's plans for the 2021 season.
“This process has been frustrating for the club and also for Dave as we were waiting for some clarity around list sizes. That’s been the major obstacle to announcing this earlier,” Bell said.“His performance demanded (a new contract). In addition to that, Dave’s been a great mentor for all of our players and particularly the young midfielders.”
Mundy has played 332 games with Fremantle and is closing in on Matthew Pavlich’s club record of 353 games.
