The injection of cash will enable the redevelopment of the reserve - which is also utilised by Broadford Secondary College - to full size including drainage, irrigation, a coaches’ box and an interchange area.
The local project is one of thirteen across the state to share in $4.9 million in grants from the Victorian Government's 2019-20 The World Game Facilities Fund.
Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes said the government was working to encourage all Victorians to embrace a more active lifestyle.
“Football is booming in Victoria and we’re expecting growing numbers of boys and girls, men and women to sign up to play at local clubs,” she said.
“The World Game Facilities Fund is getting it done for the Mitchell Rangers Soccer Club, providing more opportunities for passionate football fans to play the sport they love.”
Ms Symes thanked project partners Mitchell Shire Council for its commitment and financial contribution to delivering the redevelopment at the Broadford Sports Precinct.
The 2020-21 World Game Facilities Fund will open in November 2020.
