About 50 people gathered in Shepparton’s Monash Park on Tuesday, September 29 for National Police Remembrance Day to honour police members who have died.

The day, held on September 29 annually, remembers the officers who have died in service or any officers and police members who have died in the past year.
It also acknowledges those who continue to serve.
Police chaplain David Doherty emceed the ceremony, which included wreath-laying and a minute of silence.
Acting Senior Sergeant Scott Hamilton said the day gave officers an opportunity to reflect, but noted the remembrance went beyond the ceremony.
“They are in our thoughts each day and we acknowledge them as best as we can with the duty and the service that we provide,” Acting Sen Sgt Hamilton said.
Wreaths were laid by state Member for Shepparton Kim O’Keeffe, representatives from state Member for Northern Victoria Wendy Lovell’s office, City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Geoff Akers and Shepparton police members.
