The man has been identified as Samuel Yaok.
Isaiah Miniyo, 28, of Merrigum, has been charged with the murder of the 30-year-old.
The charge comes after police were called to a caravan park in Waverley Ave, Merrigum at about 3.10am on Saturday, September 5, following reports of a violent altercation.
When police arrived, they found two men who appeared injured, with Mr Yaok unresponsive.
Local police provided immediate assistance to the pair and performed CPR on Mr Yaok, who could not be revived.
Mr Miniyo was taken to hospital in a stable condition, before being released and taken into police custody.
During a court appearance at Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on Monday, Mr Miniyo was remanded in custody to next appear in court in December.
