Amanda was named a joint winner of the 2023 Women of Achievement Award, acknowledging outstanding female community leaders.
She shared the prize with Tracey Moss of Eaglehawk Community House.
The Women of Achievement Award, which coincides with International Women’s Day (March 8), requires that the winner’s service makes their community a better place to live.
Amanda has been RCH Manager for the past 14 years and provided outstanding guidance and support through both the 2011 and 2022 floods.
She was nominated by Judy Anderson who felt compelled to publicly recognise Amanda’s exemplary contribution for her local town, which continues to be well over and above the requirements of her job description.
Accepting the award at a function at All Seasons Resort in Bendigo, Amanda said simply being nominated was incredibly humbling.
“Working in community development, the line between being paid to work and volunteering is not always clearly visible,” she said.
“For me, volunteering, whether is it for my own interests, my children’s sports clubs, my husband’s speedway or just in the general community is something that I have always done and will continue to do moving forward.
“I love my community and I’m fiercely proud and protective of it, especially given how broken it is in the aftermath of the most recent flood,” Amanda acknowledged.
“My community’s journey will be long and bumpy but I will stand proudly by its side, supporting local residents and providing a voice for them into the future.”
