From Friday, August 1, site establishment and vegetation removal will be taking place at the Hume Fwy bridge in Seymour.
In preparation for upcoming rail works to lower the tracks below the bridge, John Holland will be undertaking utility relocations, vegetation removal and access track upgrades.
Works will go ahead from 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, and 7am to 1pm on Saturdays.
Nearby residents may experience some noise, and additional construction workers and vehicles will be in the area.
Before removal, an arborist will assess all trees, and all areas will be inspected by a qualified wildlife handler before tree removal works commence.
If fauna is encountered, works will cease until a wildlife handler has safely relocated the animal.
Traffic management and reduced speeds will be in place at the site to ensure safety of passing drivers.
Machinery set to be used includes:
- Compaction roller
- Excavators
- Tippers
- Elevated work platforms
- Woodchipper
- Trucks
- Support vehicles
Workers with hand tools will also be on site.
Works are expected to conclude by Sunday, August 31, but can sometimes take longer than expected or be cancelled at short notice and rescheduled.
Should the latter occur, impacted residents will be notified.
