Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia Sam Mostyn AC presented former Violet Town councillor Pam Robinson AM with the Governor-General’s Medallion recognising outstanding community service.
Not only was Pam Robinson AM, Violet Town Shire’s first female councillor and its first and only shire president – she has now chalked up another honour.

Pam, who served on the former Violet Town Shire Council for 12 years, was presented with the Governor-General’s Medallion by Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia Sam Mostyn AC, at Government House on June 24.
The Governor-General’s Medallion is an official commemorative token presented as a gift to recognise outstanding community service.
Pam is a life member of the Australian Local Government Women’s Association and its longest serving member, having maintained membership since 1979.
Following the formal proceedings at ALWA’s 75th Anniversary event at Government House, Ms Mostyn, surprised guests with an additional agenda item when she presented Pam with the medallion.
“I had no knowledge of such a medallion nor what was going to happen,” Pam said.
“I was completely surprised by the presentation and with the genuine warmth conveyed to me by the Governor-General.”
