Despite the name, silent film is far from silent.
The term silent film did not become common until ‘‘talkies’’ took over in the late 1920s and early 1930s.
Silent film refers to a film that has no dialogue and has no sound effects embedded in the film itself.
Live music is used to replace dialogue, convey moods, emotions, ideas, plot development, transitions and sound effects.
The Performers Workshop evening will include a selection of short pieces accompanied by the musical talents of Peter Hagen, Paul Lejins and Paul Szczur.
Tickets are $20 per person and include a light supper. The Speakeasy Bar will be open throughout the night.
