Once again there was a great turn out to the event, with the next generation of local children delighted to see Santa (aka Marty Robertson) who made the long trip with the help of Titch Donkin and the Coree South Fire Truck and the support of Elf Bella Rourke.
It is understood this event has been taking place for at least 70 years, with many local families into their third generation in attendance.
Doug Thomas can remember attending the event when he was 10 years old and has watched the numbers rise and fall.
However, he is delighted to see the community thriving at this time with many young families in the Logie Brae area.
One family remembers the get-together taking place when they arrived in the area in 1957/58 and minutes going back to 1959 tell of arrangements to be made.
As usual, there was plenty of great food, especially the desserts made by the locals.
The hall was beautifully decorated in the Christmas theme with thanks to Ainsley Massina and Kate Murray.
Thanks must go to the organising committee for co-ordinating the event.
Over the years, the Coree Hall has been an important meeting place for the community, and it is hoped that this can be continued well into the future.
A special celebration is being planned towards the end of February which will be a tribute to the Coree Tennis days.
Watch for further details – the organising committee may even look to relive the Retreat versus Coree grudge match!
