A strong opening term was had by both sides, with the Lions settling and converting on defensive rebounds through solid transition play.
The match was regularly goal for goal as the match become physical and hotly-contested.
The Lions went into the main break with a two goal advantage and maintained their mid court pressure in the third quarter.
However, some offensive errors began to cost the Lions as Echuca made a charge back.
Nonetheless, the Lions capitalised as often as they could on their limited opportunities, going into the final break with a four goal advantage.
But it was Echuca who made the charge back.
The Lions fought hard but were unable to convert on crucial late chances, falling to the reigning premiers by the slimmest of margins.
B-grade — Seymour 35 lt. Echuca 37

Bests: Lyndell O’Sullivan, Courtney Aldous, Georgia Engel.
Both sides looked incredibly strong out of the gates, but full court pressure from Echuca lead to a 12-5 opening quarter.
Seymour came out strong in the second quarter and were able to peg Echuca back, cutting the lead down to two goals.
The momentum of the match seesawed in the second half, with neither team willing to concede an inch.
Eventually Seymour broke ahead and claimed a slight lead, but it wasn’t enough as Echuca came back for the win.
B-reserve — Seymour 27 lt. Echuca 35

Bests: Chloe Symonds, Casey Drummond, Grace O’Sullivan.
Neither side was able to clearly get on top in the early stages of the match.
In an incredibly even first half, Seymour outscored Echuca by one goal leading into the quarter time break, only for Echuca to outscore the Lions by one in the second to have the game deadlocked at half time.
As the third quarter flowed on, Echuca got on top of the contest.
The Bombers outscored the Lions easily in the third, taking a strong lead into the final quarter.
The damage was already done, with Echuca adding another four goals to the margin to claim a nine goal victory.
Under-17s — Seymour 45 lt. Echuca 51
Goals: Ruby Martin, Madison Albers.
Bests: Sophie Rutherford, Rani Curry, Madison Albers.
The Lions flew out of the gate in the opening quarter and before Echuca knew what had hit them, Seymour already had a six goal lead.
With the defence locked in, the Lions were moving the ball well and looking the goods for the day.
This all changed in the second quarter.
In a quarter where 24 goals were scored, Echuca led the scoring by 10 goals and had a four goal lead to go into the main break.
Seymour switched back to their starting lineup for the third quarter and it caused an immediate impact, with the Lions outscoring Echuca 14-12 in yet another high scoring quarter.
But the Bombers were able to hold the Lions off, extending their margin out to six goals in the final quarter to claim victory.
Under-15s — Seymour 34 lt. Echuca 59
Goals: Ashlyn Webster (20), Mia Allen (9).
Bests: Imogen Cafasso, Madilyn Hager, Jordyn Beattie.
The Lions got off to a slow start and had to battle hard to convert opportunities against a strong Echuca defence.
Structure continued to improve through the centre of the court in the second quarter, allowing the team to move the ball better and get an advantage on the scoreboard.
But while the improvement was clear, Echuca was still 11 goals ahead, leaving the Lions with a lot of work to do in the second half.
Costly passing errors prevented Seymour from continuing their mid-match resurgence in the third quarter and while the effort was still at a high level, the team struggled to score as Echuca got out to a 21 goal lead.
A change up at the attacking end of the court provided a different structure in the final quarter, but Echuca still held control of the match and ran out with a 25 goal win.
