After more than 200 works featured in last year’s hArt, the 2025 exhibition is set to further showcase the talents of emerging and established artists in the region.
A number of prize categories are on offer for the artists involved, supporting the winners to continue their artistic journey and commending them for their works.
The three categories available for adult artists include First Prize, Highly Commended and First Nations Artist Award.
Entrants aged 12 to 24 will also receive acclaim, with three prizes up for grabs, as supported by council’s Youth Services Engage! Program, encouraging young creatives to share their perspectives and artistic voices.
Those attending the exhibition will have an opportunity to have their say by casting their vote for the People’s Choice Award, which has been sponsored by Milner’s Picture Framing of Broadford.
The artist whose work receives the most votes will be awarded a $150 Milner’s gift voucher.
This year’s program includes a special feature, with Engage! funding from the Victorian Government supporting a mini artist-in-residence collaboration with St Mary’s College.
The initiative offers students the chance to work alongside practising artist Vanessa Malandrin, allowing participants to deepen their creative engagement, and fostering meaningful connections between schools and the broader arts community.
Mitchell Shire Mayor John Dougall said the exhibition continued to be a powerful platform for local artists to share their stories.
“hArt 25 is a celebration of the creativity, resilience and cultural richness that defines our community,” Cr Dougall said.
“We’re proud to deliver an event that not only showcases local talent but also creates opportunities for learning, connection and cultural engage — especially through our partnership with St Mary’s College and the continued support for youth and First Nations artists.
“I encourage everyone to come along, meet the artists and experience the incredible work on display.”
The celebration will commence with an invite-only opening night event on Friday, July 25, featuring a Welcome to Country by a Taungurung Elder.
Public viewing is from Saturday, July 26 to Sunday, August 3, with daily opening hours from 10am to 4pm across two weekends.
The exhibition will be held at Broadford Hall, at 113 High St, Broadford, with entry via the council chambers.
