The campaign, which calls for teamwork to prevent violence against women, runs from Tuesday, November 25 to Wednesday, December 10, with events across the region to take place over the 16 days.
Strathbogie Shire residents will see two walks hosted by council to raise awareness and promote change.
In Euroa, the Walk Against Violence will be hosted on at 12.30pm Tuesday, November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, beginning at the Traveller's Rest in Kirkland Ave and following the Seven Creeks Walking Track to Twomeys Bridge.
On Saturday, December 6, a second walk will be held in Nagambie starting at 7.45am.
The walk will begin at Buckles Park barbecue rotunda, and will be held in conjunction with the Nagambie Park Run, with free coffee on offer afterwards.
Being that the signature colour of the campaign is orange, council encourages all attendees to don the colour, which represents a future free from violence against women and girls, while walking.
Strathbogie Shire Mayor Claire Ewart-Kennedy encouraged the community to attend both events.
“Gender-based violence is not an easy topic to discuss, but it’s vital that we recognise how we can create change throughout society,” she said.
“The 16 Days of Activism campaign is a fantastic way to bring these messages to the forefront and ensure we don’t turn a blind eye just because it’s a challenging issue.”
