State Member for Euroa Annabelle Cleeland encourages those impacted by recent storms to apply for the newly announced emergency relief payments.

Payments of $640 per adult and $320 per child, up to a maximum of $2240 per family, are now available for eligible community members whose homes were damaged by the storms in Victoria.

Residents who experienced or are experiencing power outages, homes not damaged by the storm, and not in an evacuation warning area are not eligible for the payment.

Ms Cleeland said while the scope of the payments was limited, she continued to push for increased compensation for those impacted by the frequent power outages and increased flood recovery payments.

“While these payments will be of great assistance to some, there are still too many people doing it tough due to the regular power outages across our region,” she said.

“Too many people are stuck with outrageous bills, damaged equipment and loss of significant business due to the outages.

“On top of that, there are several residents, farmers and businesses all still feeling the impact of floods in our region too.”

Ms Cleeland said she had raised the issues in parliament to ensure the community got the support needed to rebuild.

If you think you are eligible for a relief payment, please call the Emergency Recovery Hotline on 1800 560 760.
