According to police, a male entered the Cressy St business on Monday, October 5, stealing a quantity of items and ransacking the store.
Police attended the scene and established a crime scene.
CCTV footage has been obtained, and forensic analysis has been conducted as investigations continue.
HQV Bargains manager Sandra King said the offender initially attempted to force entry before returning shortly afterwards with a hammer.
“At about 4am an unknown person attempted to kick down the door,” Mrs King said.
“They came back soon after with a hammer.
“They must have seen someone because they hid around the back. From when they smashed the door to exiting after grabbing the cash, it was all under three minutes.”
Mrs King said the incident had a significant impact on the business, which had only recently changed ownership.
“We lost a day-and-a-half of trade and the new owners have only been in charge 10 days,” she said.
“Other staff lost shifts and wages."
“It's been a pain in the neck, with long hours trying to coordinate window repairs and get everything under control.”
