“It’s been a wonderful season for farmers,” Mr Starritt said.

Buoyed by perfect season and the strong demand for lambs resulting from a shortage of ewes, Mr Starritt is preparing for an upcoming ram sale at his property Woomboota Border Leicesters.
The sale is on Thursday, October 8 at 544 Edgar Rd, Woomboota at 1pm, with inspections beginning at 1pm.
On sale will be 70 rams and 14 ewes.
Spanning across four generations, Mr Starritt’s family has been breeding sheep for 112 years, starting out in Tatura before moving to their current property in 1996.
Each year they run 300 Border Leicester stud ewes to produce rams.
They also have a commercial operation running Merino ewes and first cross ewes.
They breed for early maturing sheep which are highly fertile and contain more muscle.
Male offspring of these sheep can be sold as valuable prime lamb.
Mr Starritt said most of the rams on offer at the sale were from their own bloodline.
There will be an auctioneer on site on the day.
Those who can’t attend will be able to participate in the auction on Auctions Plus.
