Sound Tracks rolls into Rochy

Around 120 people will arrive in Echuca via diesel train from Melbourne in the early hours of Saturday, April 20.

Breakfast will be served by the Kiwanis Club from 8.30 to 10.30am, leaving a few spare hours to soak up the sights of Echuca, including the bi-monthly produce markets, before departing for Rochester at 11.30am.

Visitors will be welcomed with a lunch at the station, before pub-hopping between Rochester Hotel, Wine Tavern, Shamrock and Criterion with Melbourne’s Martin Frawley, Bad Bangs, and Sam Boon House Band.

Everyone is invited to join the fun at these venues.

The ticketed event begins at dusk at the Rochester Shire Hall, with a capacity of 400. Tickets are $76.50 or included in the train journey.

Aboriginal visual artist Troy Firebrace will begin the event with a Welcome to Country before local Watty Thompson and His Total Fire Band, and Melbourne-based The Slingers begin the music.

There will be a break for dinner at the local pubs before the music continues with Melbourne band Delivery and Geelong’s Magic Dirt.

Finally, Melbourne DJ Milo Eastwood will finish the night at the pub for kick-ons.

The first edition of Sound Tracks was in Charlton, a town in north central Victoria in October 2023.

Following its success, the event will bring home-grown entertainment to Rochy and Echuca for locals and visitors alike to enjoy.

The event is funded and presented by OK Motels, the Victorian Government and Music Victoria.

OK Motels launched in 2018, with the goal of bringing live music and cultural events to regional towns to encourage visitors and platform local artists.

The Victorian Government has sponsored the event as part of a greater initiative to support flood-affected communities.
