Established using funds from the sale of Soroptimist House in Toorak, the Soroptimist International Victoria Foundation was officially launched at Queen’s Hall, Parliament House, Melbourne, on November 26.
The foundation will deliver sustainable, long-term support through annual grants to community organisations carrying out essential work across the state.
Nine organisations were named as the foundation’s inaugural grant recipients, including the Caroline Chisholm Society in Shepparton.
Local representative Debra Russell accepted a $20,000 grant on behalf of the organisation, which supports families experiencing hardship throughout the Goulburn Valley.
Following the presentations, Soroptimist International of Shepparton members were treated to a guided tour of Parliament House led by state Member for Shepparton Kim O’Keeffe.
