From December 26 to February 11, Officeworks Shepparton's fundraising efforts contributed to a nationwide total of $1.3 million raised during the 2024 Back to School Appeal.
These funds will support The Smith Family's Learning for Life sponsorship program, benefiting 2000 children and families impacted by poverty. This sponsorship covers essential school supplies such as uniforms, books and excursions, while also providing personalised support and additional educational programs to keep students engaged and connected to learning.
Throughout the partnership of more than a decade with The Smith Family, Officeworks, along with its customers and team members, has contributed more than $9 million through the annual Back to School Appeals, facilitating the provision of over 14,000 one-year Learning for Life scholarships for students nationwide.
“When people start school without the essentials they need to keep up with their peers, they risk falling behind and disengaging from their learning,” Smith Family chief executive Doug Taylor said.
“With this long term, wrap-around support, even more students will be able to stay engaged at school and make the very most of their education.”
“We are grateful for the ongoing support of Officeworks, their generous customers and passionate team members, who have come together to support young Australians with their education.”
The Back to School Appeal is part of Officeworks’ People and Planet Positive commitment. Having already supported more than 40,000 students since 2020, Officeworks doubled its initial goal to support 30,000 students by 2025, aiming to reach 60,000.
“We are proud to have raised more than $8000 for The Smith Family thanks to the support and generosity of the Shepparton community,” Officeworks Shepparton store business manager Paul Trewren said.
“I would like to thank each and every customer and team member who contributed to this year’s appeal and supported The Smith Family’s Learning for Life sponsorship program and the vital work it does in enabling all Aussie children to have fair access to education.”
