Council is inviting residents to provide input and feedback on its draft 10-year Capital Works Program, which is revisited each year, as well as for the development of its 2026-27 budget.
Consultation will involve a series of pop-up sessions at local markets, online platforms for feedback submission, and a project pipeline on council’s website.
Local project highlights over the next four years of the capital works program include:
- Seymour Community Wellbeing Hub;
- Harley Hammond Reserve, Broadford tennis courts and lighting upgrade; and
- Pyalong Recreation Reserve Hall refurbishment design.
Upcoming council drop-in sessions
- Tallarook Farmers Market: Sunday, February 1 from 8.30pm to 12.30pm
- Seymour Rotary Market: Sunday, February 15 between 9am and 1pm
Mitchell Shire Mayor John Dougall said the budget consultation process gave residents a genuine role in shaping council’s priorities.
“This is about hearing directly from our community on what matters most and using that feedback to guide our decisions,” he said.
“We have a responsibility to plan carefully for a growing shire, and that means listening before we lock in anything.
“Community input helps ensure we are investing in the right places at the right time.”
Residents can learn more about the consultation, view the draft documents, and submit feedback by visiting engagingmitchellshire.com
Hard-copy plans and submission forms will also be available from council’s Customer and Library Service Centres, or you can phone 5734 6200 for more information.
“We want as many people as possible to take part,” Cr Dougall said.
“The feedback we receive will inform how we balance infrastructure upgrades, essential services and long-term sustainability.”
