Ms Barnbrook has been dedicated to the CWA for over five years.
She’s held positions in the association including various state-level positions, and five years on the board.
Ms Barnbrook’s friends and family know her as someone with a big heart, supporting those with profound disabilities and showing remarkable strength and resilience through adversity.
“Advocating for our community's most vulnerable members has always been a personal mission for me,” Ms Barnbrook said.
Ms Barnbrook’s new nomination will enable her to represent the Seymour Community, champion the benefits of regional Victoria, and address significant issues.
According to CWA protocol, this new position means she will become the next state president, shadowing current president Jennifer Nola over the next year.
The CWA is divided into regions across the state, known as groups, each with several branches.
This region is called the Hume Goulburn group, which encompasses Broadford up to Mansfield and Euroa.
At the August group conference, Ms Barnbrook initiated discussions on the digital content for kids and the need for transparency in artificial intelligence.
Her efforts succeeded when the Hume Goulburn group approved two resolutions at the state conference, where she presented to around 400 members.
Fast forward to September, Ms Barnbrook is all set to carry these resolutions to the international arena, eyeing a worldwide ripple effect.
In addition to the CWA, she is a member of the Associated Country Women of the World and has attended two world conferences, including Melbourne in 2019 and Malaysia in 2023.
Ms Barnbrook is also a member of the United Nations Association of Australia - Victoria Division.
She is currently fundraising to attend the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, this October.
“I believe that going will help benefit our region by gaining a deeper insight into how to localise the Sustainable Development Goals and continuing my pursuit to support women and families in Victoria,” she said.
“A fantastic opportunity to network with like-minded organisations such as the International Red Cross, World Health Organization, and the Australian Mission to the UN.”
For anyone looking to donate, there is a GoFundMe campaign to help support her pursuits of attending this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity: https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-me-get-to-the-united-nations-at-geneva-switzerland
