Students and parents are invited to the college’s arts centre on Wednesday, August 6 from 6pm, where staff will take attendees through the wide range of possibilities on offer.
Assistant principal Derek Rimes said the night was all about providing attendees with all they need to know on what’s ahead.
“The night is aimed at giving advice to students entering into that part of their life,” Mr Rimes said.
“It’s always been really strongly attended by students and parents, and the arts centre is always pretty close to full.
“It’s a good night with lots of good advice about both certificates.”
Much of the night will be filled with discussion on the Victorian Certificate of Education, as well as the Vocational Major pathway.
VCE co-ordinator Sharon Hill will take attendees through subject offerings, guiding students to make choices that align with their interests and future ambitions.

Boasting the highest-scoring ATAR in the region for 2024, with past student Finbar O’Sullivan achieving a massive 99.15, Ms Hill said there was a lot on offer for students going down the VCE route.
“We’ve got a lot to recommend in terms of our program,” Ms Hill said.
“It’s a high-quality VCE program.
“Historically, we consistently achieve very strong results.”
Lisa Macheras and Leanne Hayek will speak on the Vocational Major, a hands-on applied learning program within the VCE, which provides pathways into apprenticeships, traineeships, further education and direct employment.
Speaking also will be the school’s careers, pathways and VET co-ordinator Clare Watson, as well as Head Start co-ordinator Rick Hager and some of the TAFEs in the area.
“Each subject area, or Key Learning Area, will have its own area set up in the foyer of the arts centre,” Mr Rimes said.
“It will give students advice on, if they want to do chemistry, this is what it looks like, if you want to do maths, which one would you choose?
“It will probably run for an hour-and-a-half, with a 40-minute presentation, and then the rest of the time there will be the opportunity to meet and greet.”
The information night will be held in the school's arts centre.

While the information night is aimed at Year 10 students heading into Year 11, and Year 9 students starting to plan their future schooling, the college extends an invitation to schools across the region, as well as students in all other year levels.
While the thought of the future may be overwhelming for students entering into their final years of high school, Mr Rimes said Seymour College is equipped with a team of knowledgeable staff ready to navigate what’s in store.
“There’s quite a bit of support for kids, and a lot of staff who are very experienced,” Mr Rimes said.
“We’ve got a strong team. We’ve got a number of co-ordinators at every level that work really closely with the students.
“The teachers really know the kids well, and they have a lot to do with them, helping them through their ups and downs.”
Following the information night, Year 10 students and their parents will be invited to the arts centre once again on Tuesday, August 12 to start choosing their future subjects by booking in meetings with staff members.
