For 90 minutes, the students, donning their best pyjama sets and comfy clothes, walked, danced and played around the back oval to support Gnarly Neighbours’ 90-themed challenge.
Vocational Major co-ordinator Lisa Macheras said the college wanted to back the cause due to its ties to youth mental health.

“The statistics for suicide and youth mental health are really bad, and the Gnarly90 is done by Gnarly Neighbours to support youth mental health,” she said.
“We’re doing 90 minutes of movement, of getting around, off your phone, either dancing, walking or running.
“It’s just 90 minutes of trying to get some motivation and to think about youth mental health, and a pyjama day to try and raise money for the Gnarly90.”
Now nearing the month mark since the Gnarly90 was launched, the challenge has already amassed over 600 followers on its dedicated Facebook page, over 1000 on its Instagram account, and has raised nearly $14,000.
The challenge was created to support Gnarly Neighbours in expanding its reach, and to form other, self-sufficient neighbourhood hubs in disadvantaged towns across the country.

On a local level, Ms Macheras said Gnarly Neighbours chief executive Jayden Sheridan had become a household name in town.
“With Jayden’s background, I think he relates to a lot of the students we have,” she said.
“He’s just shown everybody that you can go from nothing to making a difference, following his passions and his dreams.
“Gnarly Neighbours is big for Seymour College; you speak to any kid, he’s like the hero of Seymour.”
