The Seymour and District Historical Society held its annual general meeting on Sunday, November 26 at the Recovery Hub in Seymour, with Geoffrey Halpin re-elected as president.
“Most of the ones at the top were retained,” Mr Halpin said.
“We had five community members as well.”
Among those who retained their positions were Anne Thompson as vice-president, Robert Chapman as treasurer and Dave Willis as secretary.
Those at the meeting also discussed the society’s plans for 2024.
“We’ve got Australia Day, which we participate in,” Mr Halpin said.
“It will be an interesting stand again.
“We also got Show and Shine a month after, which will be oriented towards cars.”
The society is not yet back to its old office, which is undergoing renovations made necessary by the October 2022 floods.
“We probably won’t be back there until the end of March,” Mr Halpin said.
“Once that’s (renovation) nearly completed, we’ll start the big shift.
“Moving back, we’ll need plenty of volunteers.”
Mr Halpin said the volunteers would be needed next year to help sort out the items that were moved out during the floods and to organise the office.
The society’s archives are currently in the Seymour Uniting Church Hall in Crawford St.
“We certainly thank them very much for the use of the hall,” Mr Halpin said.
Mr Halpin said members were always on the lookout for old photos depicting Seymour’s history.
The society is also looking for new volunteers to help bring the 2024 plans to fruition.
