The National Serviceman’s Association Australia unveilled a new plaque on Sunday, March 20, commemorating a soldier who died in training.
About 200 people attended a service at Puckapunyal marking National Service Day, which included a full march and memorial.
Master of ceremonies and national serviceman Hank Kreemer said it was important to commemorate lost soldiers.
“It was a special ceremony for Brian Barnett, who was killed during training in 1954,” he said.
The service began with a traditional march, before the service started at the cenotaph.
