Labor candidate for Euroa Angela Tough said she had been out and about across the electorate during Seniors Week talking to people about the issues concerning their communities.
She recently attended Heathcote’s University of the Third Age ‘come for a cuppa’ event as part of the seniors festival.
There were many interests represented, from tai chi to gardening, a choir and current events groups.
The membership has grown after the COVID-19 pandemic from just over 30 to 53 members.
The group provides a welcoming space for active and engaged retirees to meet others and share their interests.
‘Travelling across the electorate, I am always so inspired by the passion and engagement older Victorians have for politics,“ Ms Tough said.
“They understand the need for strong communities and good services and they know when they are meeting the real thing.
“The seniors festival is a fantastic celebration of the contribution older Victorians make in our communities.
“It has been wonderful to see seniors in the electorate getting out to socialise, share and connect this week as we celebrate the wisdom, generosity and energy older Victorians bring to our communities.
“If elected in November, I will work hard to keep our communities strong, be your voice in Spring St and work to support the needs of all members of our community.”
