Saturday pennant resumed in hot and blustery conditions and saw the division one team travel to Broadford and suffer their first defeat of the season.
The defeat probably brought them back to earth and realise that they will need to come out to play every game from now on.
Division two hosted Broadford at the Seymour VRI green and had no problems winning all rinks by large margins.
Division seven Goulburn Valley were set to play Avenel away from home, but all GV games were called off the previous evening due to the expected temperature at Shepparton exceeding 40°C.
Subsequently all rounds in the GV have been rescheduled for Saturday, February 23 and no points have been awarded for rounds this week.
Division one at the Broadford green, with all rinks down at afternoon tea, struggled in the second half of the game with only one rink surviving the onslaught while the other two rinks went down with a 15-shot deficit overall.
Seymour VRI 2-59 lost to Broadford 14-74.
Geoff Neal’s rink was the only winning rink and were eight shots down at the 13th end. But they picked up multiple scores over six ends to be in front at the 21st, holding a slight lead to finish three shots up.
Daniel Noonan’s rink played a competitive game up until the 15th end, but then could not score over the next seven ends.
The rink was 10 shots down at the 22nd end, but managed to pick up three shots in the last end to go down by eight shots.
Luke Spargo’s rink with several passages of good play were unable to capture the game are were 10 shots down at the 13th end, before picking up again with five shots down at the 18th end.
They were still five shots down at the 22nd end, and lost the last three ends by five shots to go down by 10.

Division two at the Seymour VRI green had an easy win against Broadford by 43 shots up overall, holding the top position on the ladder by a comfortable margin.

Moreno Puppa’s rink continued with their winning ways, scoring on seven ends before the opposition scored, still being 19 shots up at the 20th end and winning by 17 shots.
Mario Furletti’s rink took a big lead into the 19th end, leading by 18 shots, eventually winning by 15 shots.
Paul Rolfe’s rink played a competitive game up until afternoon tea, before going up a gear to win eight ends to the opposition’s four, winning ends after tea by 11 shots.

The coming Saturday sees the VRI division one team needing to regroup for a win against Eildon at their home green.
Division two has the bye as the competition consists of an odd number of teams, and division seven GV will travel to Dookie to contest a game against the sixth team on the ladder.
